Evolution of SIMBAD contents [April 1, 2022]
Summary
In 2022, CDS celebrates its 50th anniversary. The contents of the SIMBAD astronomical database has greatly evolved, now reaching over 400,000 bibliographic references with nearly 30 million citations of astronomical objects in these references.
This animation shows the evolution of SIMBAD contents over time. The sky map shows the evolution of the number of objects in the database, weighted by the number of references.
